Peanut Oat Porridge

A safe way to introduce peanut — thinned into iron-fortified cereal. Early peanut lowers allergy risk (LEAP).

Contains: Peanut
Good for:
  • Brain
  • Bones & teeth
  • Immunity
  • Growth

Ingredients

Breast milk, formula or water used to adjust texture is not counted in nutrition.

Method

  1. 1

Stir the peanut butter into 2–3 tbsp hot water until fully dissolved and runny.

  2. 2

Mix in the cereal and enough breast milk or formula to make a smooth porridge.

  3. 3

    Cool to warm before serving.

How to serve

Smooth; spoon-feed.

Storage

Serve fresh — discard anything left in the bowl after feeding (saliva breaks it down and introduces bacteria).

Tips

  • If your baby has severe eczema or egg allergy, talk to your doctor before the first peanut feed (NIAID 2017).
  • Never give peanut butter by the spoonful — globs are a choking hazard.
